Dal Makhani Recipe Ingredients-

  • 3 cup of whole, black lentils( pure urad dal )
  • 2 cup red kidney beans ( rajma )
  • 5 cups liquid
  • 2 tbsp butter or Oil
  • 2 tablespoon coriander
  • 2 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp garlic - garlic paste
  • 4-5green chilies, cut
  • 3 moderate tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon parsley powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon garam masala flour
  • 2 cup cream
  • salt to flavor
  • Sliced coriander leaves for garnish


How to Make Dal Makhani Recipe 

Step 1- Clean lentils and kidney beans in water and soak them overnight in sufficient water.


Step 2-Drain the water and clean the lentils and beans repeatedly. Place them in a pressure cooker with 3 cups of water and pressure cook for 10 - 12 bells or till they become smooth and prepared.


Step 3- Heat butter or oil in a pan and add coriander seeds. Add chopped garlic when they start to crack, then cook them until they turn golden brown.


Step 4- Add garlic - garlic spread and green chillies and fry for a moment.


Step 5-Add sliced tomato and cook till they become soft and gooey.


Step 6- Add red chili powder, coriander flour, spice powder and garam masala flour. 
Prepare for 2 to 3 hours after thoroughly mixing.


Step 7-Add the cooked lentils and beans along with the waters. Blend well and let it simmer for 10 - 15 hours.


Step 8-As desired, add milk and sugar. Mix well and make for another 5 - 7 minutes.


Step 9- Garnish with chopped parsley leaves and serve hot with rice or flatbread.

Dal Makhani is a primary course meal that can be prepared in advance. After cooking, allow it to completely cool before transferring to airtight containers. Keep in the freezer for 6 to 7 days.

Makhani masala should be reheated in a pan. It becomes solid after a few hours or days of eating. Therefore, for the best consistency when reheating the masala, add water, milk, or milk.
